BROOKLYN FASHION GALLERY PRESENTS CANVASS 2012
May 24th 4-8pm
@
Delux Gallery
704 Fulton Street
Brooklyn, NY, 11217
I have been craving something different; Literally.. but this entails redefining that which I truly love on my own terms. So on Sunday May 24th I invite those of you in Brooklyn to step into that realm of redefining and shaping my Canvass of Expression.
Clothing is about necessity and practicality and truth be told you really only need two sets one Iclean and another to wear while the second is being cleaned! Fashion on the other hand is about expression, aesthetic, structural, sensory inspirational, with a message, without a platform!
Selling fashion and providing clothing is an altogether different ballgame often engaaged in, at the end rather than the beginning of the tTo remind us of purpose we will be presenting a vendors market alongside he process.
Frankly, I have nothing to lose, I had long discovered that my most ardent supporters of my fashion designs, were as much drawn to the process as they were to the pieces. That they truly owned them and they were treasured and guarded (on threats of severe bodily harm)
Fashion, contrary to popular belief is steeped in tradition, designers show n Fashion week because that’s just how things are done, despite vast changes in technology that can render a garment from design to production, it seems almost overnight. A recent NYTimes Fashion blog post echoed what is being discussed by many in the industry ‘Let’s do things different “
Let’s face it at the end of the show it’s about sales, designs have to meet the needs of the consumer, be fashion forward, so that it looks fresh for a couple of seasons. From a business pespective a line has to be commercially viable, and product line management, marketing and customer service has to be of the best quality!
Add to these train of thought the innovation and new technology that is emerging and shaping every aspect of society as we know it and what do we have!

Utilitarian does not need to be Boring. As a prelude to its 2009/2010 season Brooklyn Fashion Gallery invites you to its the opening Show and creative Marketplace!
