Yes, I’m talking about Google Wave!

I honestly can’t remember applying, Though it may have been around Barcamp4. Maybe it was one of my contacts…

There were about 6 individuals on my contact list all from the NY Tech scene… all men. They’re cool, great and patient but there was no way I was going to go ride any “wave”   with these guys without  first learning to “swim”.

This is a preview but the like many tech previews  initial use is so skewed towards the tech set the results are tainted! Regular folks “Do Not Use” the web the same way the tech crowd does

This is not  your techie speaking. I’m a woman, I’m an Caribbean of African heritage, I’m a digital alien in the tech scene … and proud of it! Does this matter yes, culturally each potential user interacts differently to Technology. I have 4 core focus groups this year Women, Blacks, Entrepreneurs, Designers and how they integrate technology! Thanks to FashionCamp Fashion And technology is on it’s way!

Blacks, Women and Entrepreneurs In technology is another ballgame! there are thought leaders like Girls in Tech group,  as well as Black in Tech, But getting  women  out to take advantage of the info is difficult!

I tried the search, by interest, fashion, shopping… yes that is my sole intent for my Waves! Honestly it’s business related. But as I suspected I’ll have to strategically use my invites to get others on  a “stylzwave” or learn to use search better to find others in that area. So no 1 on my  to do list- how to best distribute 8 invites! Google search was no better and twitter (sorry guys) the focus on the Geeky stuff… I wanted to ride the wave, not do a dissertation on it! Loosen up guys jump in and “experience’ IT.

So I left Wave alone for a couple days, but you could not escape the “noise”

  • What is Google Wave
  • Why Should I care
  • How do I use it
  • What can I do with it

Friday evening with a heavy task list in front of me I took a “quick” look at wave again, and did not leave till 7hrs later.

What changed… this time I decide to go straight to the wave support and actually READ the queries and suggestions! Second on the to do list write an easy to read practical instructions so that my crew can get the hang of this!

I also found the wave extensions list

I started a test wave and just plunged in 7hrs later i was ready to see what others were doing. Yes I’m playing tn the Wave! Take a look at the video but also  read this article from Master New Media.
